A&R has usually started with the human and worked forward: find the artist, develop the songs, establish the identity, figure out the world around them.
Reverse A&R changes the order.
DESIGN PRECEDES ASSEMBLY.
The world is built first.
Then the right humans are cast into it.
Pieces of that behavior have existed throughout entertainment history. Manufactured groups existed long before generative AI. So did designed identities, fictional worlds, virtual artists and entertainment built around concepts before all of the people involved had been assembled.
The claim is not that nobody ever worked backward before.
The missing piece is the discipline -- a name, a method and an argument for why the order matters now.
